These items are utilized by friars and by their partners-in-ministry, both individually and in group settings. Other information about Franciscan spirituality and about the Order can be obtained through the Province's ministries and bookstores as well as from links of related organizations.

Year for Priests

Pope Benedict designated June 19, 2009, the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, as the beginning of a Year for Priests. This is in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the death of Secular Franciscan St. John Vianney, patron of priests.

2010 Calendar

On the feast of the Sacred Heart in June 2009, Pope Benedict XVI addressed a yearning for renewal in the Church by declaring a special Year for Priests. The Year for Priests encourages clergy members to reflect on their vital role in bearing “forceful witness” to the truth of the Gospel. In keeping with the Holy Father’s wishes, we present you with this 2010 St. Anthony’s Guild Calendar celebrating the vital role priests have in our lives.

This calendar is intended to bring the sacred into your daily life in a manner that is both personal and uplifting. As you look at the images of the sacraments and sacramentals each month, use them to reflect upon your own faith experiences. Perhaps you will recall a special occasion with family and friends, or a private moment during Mass when you felt a strong spiritual connection.

All of these experiences are precious gifts facilitated by priests. We hope this calendar inspires you to pray for all current and future priests.
