Four Friars Ordained Priests
Linh Hoang, Hugh Macsherry, Stephen Mimnaugh and Harry Monaco were ordained to priestly ministry on May 16 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York City.

Local JPIC Reps Gather for Retreat
More than 20 representatives from eight Province ministries gathered this month in Northern New Jersey for Holy Name’s fifth annual Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation Local Contacts Retreat.

HNP’s friars in formation are planning for their summer assignments and year-long internships. Francis Di Spigno has announced new ministry roles for friars based at Holy Name College.

SBU Honors Dan Riley for his Spirit of St. Francis
For his infectious laugh and dedication to the school for more than 35 years, St. Bonaventure University lauded Dan Riley with its Gaudete Medal.

SPUFY Meets in Florida for Biannual Gathering
Solemnly professed friars under five years heard Michael Duffy discuss his life as a Franciscan, as well as took time for prayer, meals, and leisure activities with retired friary residents in April.

Upstate Friar Speaks at NYC Clergy Series
A friar from Western New York spoke with clergy from Metropolitan New York as part of the Cardinal Bernardin Series for Clergy in New York City.

‘Emmaus’ Friars Gather in New Jersey
Five friars who live alone and pray as a fraternity met this month in South Jersey for faith-sharing and a milestone celebration of one of the Emmaus fraternity members.

Province Concludes Spring Fraternal Gatherings
The last of nine regional gatherings was held May 7 at Holy Name College in Maryland. The series focused on the leadership development and finance components of the Province’s strategic plan.

Peacemaking Pilgrimage Planned for Nov. 3 to 13
Friars and partners-in-ministry are invited to join Jacek Orzechowski on a November trip to the Holy Land for first-hand education on the complexities of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.

Bronx to Name Street in Honor of Franciscans
A portion of the street behind Holy Cross Parish in the Bronx will be named Franciscan Way next month, in tribute to the HNP friars who ministered there for 87 years. All friars are invited.

South Jersey Parish Beautifies Community
Ground was broken this month for a community garden, celebrating a victory for Camden’s St. Anthony of Padua Parish and Cramer Hill community. The garden replaced a once abandoned lot.

Peaceprints Ministry Fundraiser a Success
Buffalo's Peaceprints prison ministry and transitional housing for ex-offenders in Upstate New York recently raised $13,000 for its newly-merged program. Michael Oberst provided an update.

HNP Friars Speak at International Symposium at SBU
Dominic Monti and Michael Blastic were among presenters at an international symposium on the Early Rule of the Friars Minor, sponsored by the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University in April.

Newsletter Recalls Chapter of Mats
The Order of Friars Minor distributed a four-page special edition of its newsletter Fraternitas, focusing on April’s International Chapter of Mats, in addition to its regular monthly edition.

Montana Poor Clares Welcome Friars
The Poor Clares of Montana, a ministry associated with Holy Name Province, invites friars to plan a retreat in Great Falls and visit their retreat center and monastery.
