Massachusetts Native Callistus Bamberg Dies A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 16 in Boston for Callistus Bamberg, 74, who died March 12.
North Carolina Anti-Hunger Conference Draws 750 More than 750 people turned out for an anti-hunger conference last month, sponsored by The Franciscan Coalition for Justice and Peace, a ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh.
Paterson Parish Celebrates Spanish Masses The community of St. Bonaventure Church in North Jersey celebrated its first Mass in Spanish earlier this month, a liturgy that will become a regular event, according to Christopher VanHaight, who reports that attendance is increasing.
Men in Formation Meet in Pennsylvania Holy Name Province’s student friars gathered earlier this month at the Franciscan Spiritual Center in Aston, Pa., for their annual three-day meeting. This year’s focus was “Finances for Franciscans.”

Edward Coughlin was among the participants.
Franciscan Action Network Marks First Anniversary It was only a year ago that the Franciscan Action Network — an organization for Franciscan-hearted people — was launched, and already the group has 1,800 members.
Midwestern Provinces Discern Their Future The provinces of St. John the Baptist and Assumption are continuing their discernment talks on the future of the two provinces. On Feb. 24, the Provincial Councils discussed creation of a new combined province.
